On News9’s Capitol Report, Pat McGuigan reported on the impact of a one cent sales tax increase – one enacted in Arkansas in the early 1980s under then-Governor Bill Clinton. Then-First Lady Hillary Clinton pushed for the tax hike for education, saying it would improve schools, boost the economy and create jobs. Greg Kaza of the Arkansas Policy Foundation detailed results in a speech at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs: Schools did not improve, per capita income stayed flat, and taxes increased on the poor and middle class.

U.S. Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont has surged from 15 percent to around 40 percent support now.
