Canterbury Choral Society will present its Canterbury Christmas concert on Dec. 4 at 7:00 pm in the Civic Center. Canterbury also will present the 2nd annual Victorian Christmas concert this year, which will be held on Dec. 18.
Canterbury Christmas is designed for the whole family to enjoy together. Attendees can take part in an audience sing-a-long and a cookie reception of treats following the concert contributed by Canterbury volunteers.
“Canterbury Christmas has become a tradition many look forward to each year,” said Canterbury Choral Society Executive Director Dr. Kay Holt. “We are proud to be serving Central Oklahoma and enjoy giving this gift of music to our community as a thank you for their support!”
In addition to the festive sing-a-long and cookie reception, the concert will feature the Blackwelder Brass, the OCU Surrey Singers, bell ringers from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Canterbury Youth Choruses and other local musicians.
“This is a concert the entire family can enjoy,” said Artistic Director Randi Von Ellefoson.
Canterbury continues the holiday season with a Victorian Christmas. Patrons will experience a more intimate experience in the grandeur of the Grand Atrium of the School of Music at Oklahoma City University. Featured will be 20 singers in Victorian dress, hosted by the “Master and Mistress of the House,” performing carols and traditional music of the era. Victorian Christmas will also include complimentary valet, dessert and music from the OCU Faculty Brass ensemble.
Now in its 43rd season, Canterbury Choral Society has been encouraging the development of the arts through its multiple music education programs and attracting world-renowned performers to come and share their talents in Oklahoma City.
