LATE BREAKING: City crews prep for possible snow and ice

staff report; City crews are
mounting salt spreaders and pre-treating bridges and overpasses
with salt brine solution today in preparation for possible snow and
ice predicted this weekend and early next week. According to a
release sent to The City Sentinel, crews driving 28 trucks will
begin salting the City’s snow routes when weather conditions begin
to deteriorate. The snow routes can be viewed at www.okc.gov/snow. Residents
without access to the Internet can call Oklahoma City’s Action
Center at 297-2535 and request a regional snow route map. According
to Street Superintendent Mike DeGiacomo, rock salt is in good
supply, with more than 9,000 tons in Public Work’s inventory. Crews
are prepared to work 12-hour shifts, 24 hours per day. Drivers can
help crews by keeping a safe distance – about 200 feet – away from
salt trucks. People can log on to www.okc.gov/snow to watch
