OKLAHOMA CITY– The 2018 Purple Sash Gala, hosted by the YWCA Oklahoma City (YWCA OKC) will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23, from 6 – 10 p.m., at The Criterion, powered by Bud Light, 500 E. Sheridan. All proceeds from the event will benefit YWCA OKC programs for adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Purple Sash is a black-tie gala that will feature dinner, silent and live auctions and a fashion show. “Purple Sash is a night to celebrate survivors of domestic violence, while raising funds and awareness for those still fighting to break the cycle of abuse.” said Janet L. Peery, CEO of YWCA Oklahoma City. “It’s an elegant evening filled with hope and promise, that one day, domestic violence will be eliminated from our community.”
This year’s chief Advisor for Purple Sash 2018 is Mary Blankenship Pointer. Jonna Kirschner and Catherine Armitage are event co-chairs.
Following the Purple Sash Gala, the 2nd annual After Sash cocktail-attire event will include wine, a cash bar, photo booth, raffle items, catering by Whiskey Cake and music by Drive, one of Oklahoma’s most versatile events bands.
“With 25 percent of all Oklahoma women experiencing rape in their lifetime, it is imperative to begin a dialogue on how this crime can be prevented,” said Karla Docter, YWCA OKC Senior Director of Sexual Violence Prevention and Response.
Check-in for the Purple Sash Gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. The program starts promptly at 7 p.m. Doors open for After Sash at 9:30 p.m.
Individual tickets for the Purple Sash Gala are $250 and include admission to After Sash. Tickets for the After Sash event only are $30. Tickets for both events can be purchased online at purplesash.org.
“Our Purple Sash Gala is always a night to remember,” said Perry. “Come dressed in your best black tie attire and be prepared for a delectable dinner, silent and live auctions, and a high-energy runway show,” Peery said. “This is truly an event like no other in Oklahoma.
“Leave the night knowing you helped raise valuable dollars for victims of domestic violence to receive emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy and much more,” Peery added. “All of which is provided free of cost to victims, and would not be possible without your generous support.”
