OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – PRAI Beauty, the producer pf certified cruelty-free skincare products, will sponsor all homeless pet adoption fees from OKC Animal Welfare during the nationwide “Free the Shelters” event, Friday through Sunday, May 4-6.
Oklahoma City was selected as one of 10 locations around the country for the event, according to Cathy Kangas, PRAI Beauty’s founder and CEO.
A board member for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Kangas’ passion for helping animals led to her to create PRAI Beauty.
The event celebrates the one-year anniversary of the inaugural “Free the Shelters” event held last year.
Since then, PRAI Beauty has sponsored free adoption events at 44 municipal and private shelters across the country, finding homes for 2,248 homeless pets.
PRAI Beauty dedicates a portion of every sale to protecting animals through the PRAI for PAWS initiative. PRAI Beauty products are made in the U.S. and certified as cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny, which represents standards created by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC).
“We’re grateful to PRAI Beauty for funding these free adoptions in Oklahoma City,” said OKC Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary. “It’s a generous gift that will improve the lives of hundreds of homeless pets in our community.”
The free adoption event will take place from noon to 5:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday, May 4-6 at the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare, 2811 SE 29th Street.
OKC Animal Welfare currently has about 200 homeless pets in need of a family.
Kangas announced the events the week of April 30 on HSN TV, where she sells the cruelty-free PRAI Beauty skincare line. She is the owner of five rescue dogs and is committed to helping animals.
“We’re delighted to work with OKC Animal Welfare for our mega ‘Free the Shelters’ adoption event the weekend of May 4,” said Kangas. “This shelter is dedicated to helping animals find a home, and we don’t want adoption fees to stand in the way. “Our love for animals runs deep at PRAI Beauty and the ‘Free the Shelters’ campaign is one of the ways we bring that passion to life,” Kangas added.
The other selected shelters are in Houston; Baltimore; Santa Fe; Tampa; Edinburg, Texas; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Kingsport, Tennessee.
All adoptable animals at OKC Animal Welfare are microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, treated for worms and spayed or neutered.
The shelter is open for adoptions from 12 to 5:30 p.m. every day except holidays. Visit okc.gov/animalwelfare or call 405-297-3100 for more information.
