The Oklahoma City Repertory 2017-18 season continues in downtown Oklahoma City over the next two weekends, with a strong two-person show delivered in an intimate setting.
Amidst the bustle of a crowded London train station, impulsive American chatterbox Georgie spots Alex, a quiet, older buttoned-down British man, and plants a kiss on his neck. This electric encounter sends these two strangers into a fascinating and life-changing journey of discovery. Simon Stephens’ sharply original “Heisenberg” brings to blazing, theatrical life the uncertain and often comical sparring match that is human connection.
For this romantic and mysterious tale, CityRep veterans Ben Hall and Stacey Logan star in a regional premiere. CityRep publicity touts the show as an example of how “falling in love can be … uncertain.” And, “the only thing certain is uncertainty.”
A reviewer for The New York Times wrote: “Heisenberg… is a satisfyingly sentimental, life-affirming mating dance between two people who are so utterly dissimilar that of course they are made for each other… if you choose to tune into the quieter frequencies, you’ll detect the presence of a probing work that considers the multiplicity of alternatives that could shape our lives at every moment.”
Entertainment Weekly was equally enthusiastic: “Tells the simple story of two perfect strangers who embark on an affair and find their lives changes irrevocably. You’ve seen this one before, you say? Not like this one, you haven’t… a marvelous creation.”
