On this week’s edition of Capitol Report on News9, the CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City, analyst Patrick B. McGuigan expressed “deep concern” about many American leaders in wake of the Orlando killings. In response to the terrorist attack, he pointed out, competing voices have cast doubt on the futures of the First and Second Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
McGuigan criticized President Obama, and both leading candidates seeking to replace him, saying U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke more appropriately than any of that trio in calling for “security tests, not religion tests.”
McGuigan expressed dismay that many other voices “doubled down” in attacks on gun owners and Christians, even after the killer’s background became clear.
The CapitolBeatOK editor supported Speaker Ryan’s call for recognition that the U.S. is at war with radical extremist forces who claim they adhere to Islam.
