‘Downtown in December 2015′ features a series of holiday events and attractions and it is now in full swing in the heart of Oklahoma City. The winter events featured include outdoor ice skating, a tree lighting festival, afternoon visits with Santa Claus, a holiday run, snow tubing, free water taxi excursions, performing arts, shopping, and more.
The festive holiday atmosphere will provide fun for the entire family. Most events are free of charge and open to the pubic.
Downtown in December is produced in part by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. with support from Devon Energy, the Downtown Business Improvement District, as well as other corporate sponsors and partners.
The Devon Ice Rink returns for its 5th season in the Myriad Botanical Gardens and is open 7 days a week through January 31. Tickets are $12 per person for all ages (includes skates). For those who bring their own skates, the cost is $8. For details, call 405-708-6499.
On December 12 and 19, Devon Energy Center, 333 W. Sheridan Ave., will feature Saturdays with Santa. Activities themed “The North Pole” and “Winter Wonderland” will feature crafts and other holiday activities for children from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit saturdayswithsanta.com
Also on Saturday, December 12, the 2015 SandRidge Santa Run will include a 5K race, a one-mile Fun Run, and a free Kids’ Dash, plus a warm-up with Rumble the Bison and the Thunder Girls. All runs begin and end at Leadership Square, 211 N. Robinson. The Kids’ Dash will step off at 8:45 a.m. The 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. followed by the 5k Race, which starts at 9:30 a.m.
Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket for the 5k.
All registered 5k and 1-mile runners can participate in a costume contest following the races at 10:30 a.m. The 1st place costume contest winner will receive $150, 2nd place will receive $100, and 3rd place will receive $50 cash.
Registration for the 5k is $35, the Fun Run is $20 and the Kids’ Dash is free for ages 8 and under (registration not required). Race packets will be available beginning at 7:30 a.m. Online registration is also available. Participants may also sign up at Leadership Square from 7:30 – 8:45 a.m. on race day.

The all-new OKC Dodgers Winter Festival at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark offers a gigantic snow tubing slope, starting from the upper level behind first base and landing near second base. There is also a second, smaller slide for children. Admission is $14 for an hour and a half session.

OKC Riversport Adventures will offer holiday excitement in Lower Bricktown with the SandRidge Santa Zip and Candy Cane Climb. Cost is $12 per adventure or purchase a $20 combo pass for unlimited fun. Passes can be purchased in person at the Land Run Monument. Visit the website to learn more.
Thirty-five Oklahoma-owned Holiday Pop Up Shops and an urban Christmas tree lot will be available from now through Christmas in Midtown. Shops rotate weekly in a set of geodesic domes at NW 10th and Hudson, next to the Bleu Garten food truck park. The holiday shopping village is open each weekend, Thursday through Sunday to the public. Entry is free.
Other holiday festivities include Dunlop Codding’s Glitter Ball, Lyric’s a Christmas Carol, OKC Ballet’s The Nutcracker, and OKC Philharmonic’s Christmas Show.
