In support of World Peace, the Oklahoma School of Metaphysics will hold a marathon, group meditation on New Year’s Eve, said Director Doug Bannister. There is no charge and there will be nutritious food and beverage.

The School teaches that Peace begins with each of us thinking peacefully resulting in living more peaceably. “All people desire Peace; it is a universal truth,” said Banister. Peace is more than the cessation of conflict, it is the reflection of our individual tranquility. Treaties and documents do not create peace; it begins in the hearts and minds of men and women. This sense of inner Peace is among the disciplines taught at the school, Bannister said.

Sessions will include Yoga, Qigong, (the Chinese-influenced practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation) as well as guided and silent meditation.

Everyone is welcome, all faiths and cultures. The Universal Peace Covenant will be read just before entering the New Year at 11:45 pm.

“This is a timely event with all of us moving in to 2012, a time of change with the need for inner and outer Peace never being more needed. Whatever we give our attention to grows,” said Bannister.

The session will last 20 hours, 12 minutes. It begins at 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 and concludes at 1:12 a.m. Sunday Jan 1, 2012.

Individuals are free to come and go as they please during the meditation.

The school is located at 908 NW 12, one block east of NW 12 and Classen Blvd.

Email Bannister at [email protected] or call 405.228.0506 to get more information about the Yoga and Qigong schedules. The meditations start at the top of the hour.
