Tony Award nominee Cathy Rigby takes flight in an all new production of “Peter Pan.” Rigby brings the boy who never grew up to life in a two-time Emmy winning and two-time Tony nominated show. There will be eight performances from September 13 to 18.
The unique and family friendly spectacle and fantasy of Peter Pan evokes the thrill of flying, timeless magical moments and a certain captivating hook that will mesmerize a new generation of theatre-goers. Broadway’s Tom Hewitt (“The Rocky Horror Show,” “Dracula,” “Chicago”) and Kim Crosby (Cinderella in the original “Into the Woods”) will play Mr. Darling/Captain Hook and Mrs. Darling, respectively, in the new national tour of the storied musical.
Peter Pan is produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Nederlander Presentations, Albert Nocciolino in association with Larry Payton, Michael Filerman, Heni Koenigsberg and La Mirada Theatre For The Performing Arts.
Direction is by Glenn Casale who directed the 1999 version of the show with Rigby as his star. Casale has been a resident at the California Musical Theatre for almost 23 seasons, and has directed over 550 shows there. The flying sequence choreographer is Paul Rubin, “The Fly Guy”, who has choreographed some of the most memorable flying sequences from the Tony winning Broadway production of “Wicked” to Rigby’s Emmy\-winning DVD of Peter Pan. The traveling production’s creative team includes Patti Columbo (Choreographer), Keith Levenson (Musical Director), Michael Gilliam (Lighting Design), Julie Ferrin (Sound Design), Sean Boyd (Fight Director) and Julia Flores (Casting Director).
Tom McCoy and Cathy Rigby are beginning their 17th season as Executive Producers of the McCoy Rigby Entertainment Series at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Since the 1994-95 season, the team has produced over 75 plays, musicals, concerts, dramas, and comedies. In addition to Peter pan, other Broadway shows or tours MRE has also produced include “Seussical the Musical” both starring Rigby, “Jesus Christ Superstar” starring Carl Anderson, “Camelot” formerly starring Michael York and through 2008, starring Lou Diamond Phillips, and “Happy Days, The Musical.”
Since 1990, Rigby’s Peter Pan has made four stops on Broadway, garnering four Tony nominations including best musical revival and best musical actress. Other credits include “The Historic All Star Concert for Pope John Paul II” at the Los Angeles Coliseum, and the award-winning documentary on balancing wellness, titled “Faces of Recovery.”
