Now, for something really different: CityRep to present The Great American Trailer Park Musical

The Oklahoma City Reperatory Theatre is presenting, “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” May 20, 21 and 22. The story is by Betsy Kelso, with music/lyrics by David Nehls. The show is a collaboration of CityRep and the Opera and Music Theatre department at University of Central Oklahoma.

The story line is, according to a New York critic, “Jerry Springer meets Desperate Housewives.” Another hint: Our friend Michael Jones said the show is rated “R” for “ridiculous, ribald, really funny and a little raunchy.” So, leave the young’uns elsewhere and get ready to laugh out loud.
A Facebook message last weekend indicated the show is already 50% sold out, which is the reason they have added a Sunday evening performance.

A special note to CityRep regulars and irregulars: This show is not down in the basement of the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City, but upstairs in the Freede Little Theatre. The production, now well into the rehearsal schedule, is no doubt accurately characterized as “A wild and wacky end to our Ninth Season.”

Performances will be Friday, May 20 at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 21 at 4 p.m., and 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. Matinee tickets are $25; all other tickets are $30. Ticket information is online at Groups of eight or more can garner discounts via the CityRep “hotline” at 848-3761.
