OKLAHOMA CITY — To provide comprehensive health care to more Oklahoma City children and families, Variety Care is expanding its “Lafayette” Pediatrics and Wellness Center to add 21,000 additional square feet of exam rooms and patient care facilities. In commemoration, Variety Care will host donors and dignitaries for a groundbreaking celebration at 11 a.m., Friday, May 6. The site will be renamed the Lafayette Inasmuch Foundation Wellness and Pediatric Center.
“This is an exciting milestone for Variety Care and for the thousands of pediatric and WIC patients who receive care at our Lafayette health center,” said Variety Care CEO Lou Carmichael. “By expanding and renovating this building, we will be able to hire new physicians and health professionals, reduce the wait time for new patients and offer a full scope of services to the thousands of patients we serve at this location.”
In addition to expanding its pediatrics and WIC (Women, Infants and Children) nutrition programs, Variety Care will add pediatric dental and behavioral health services in the former elementary school building. A new urgent care center will be added for patients of all ages, and new space will allow for new wellness programs.
Also as part of the project, a new park on the south side of the health center’s parking lot will feature state-of-the-art outdoor fitness equipment, a playground and a walking track. The park is a partnership between Variety Care, the Margaret Annis Boys Trust, Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation Department and Integris Health.
