Seven Oklahoma women were honored with Byliner Awards the evening of March 3, 2011 for their outstanding contributions in various fields of communications and community service.
The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications recognized Debbie Anglin, APR for Public Relations; Catherine F. Bishop for Public Affairs; Dr. Barbara L. Bonner for Child Advocacy; Debby Hampton for Non-Profit; Gail Huneryager for Business Development; Elizabeth Hixon Kerr for Law; and Cynthia Reid for Communications.
Anglin is founder of Anglin Public Relations. Bishop is Vice President for Public Affairs at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Bonner is Professor of Pediatrics at the OU Health Sciences Center.
Hampton was recently named President and CEO of United Way of Central Oklahoma, moving from her role as President and CEO of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. Huneryager is Director of Business Development and Marketing for the Crowe & Dunlevy law firm.
Kerr is Legal Counsel for and adjunct professor at the University of Central Oklahoma. Reid is Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber.
More than 200 attended the 53rd Annual Byliner Awards Dinner at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. The printed program for the evening was dated February 10, 2011. Weather forecasters that day predicted a major winter weather event, so the dinner was postponed in consideration for the safety of attendees.
The annual event serves as AWC’s main fundraiser to provide scholarships to women pursuing degrees in communications or related fields.
The deadline for this year’s scholarship applications is Tuesday, March 15th. Information about the AWC scholarship program, process and application form can be found online at www.awcokc.org or by contacting Tina Evans at [email protected] or 405-590-8466.
