OKC RIVERSPORT will host the first annual RIVERSPORT RUNderground indoor 5k Family Fun Run on Saturday, Feb. 12, as part of the Bart and Nadia Sports and Health Festival in association with the Oklahoman. The event will be held in The Underground, Oklahoma City’s unique underground tunnel system that links more than 30 buildings along 16 blocks in downtown, said Sherry Andrusiak..
A family event, the RUNderground is ideal for novice runners and walkers, as well as more experienced runners. The run will start in waves with the fastest going first and walkers last. This non-timed run begins at 9 a.m. in the northeast lobby of the Cox Convention Center with the starting line in the Underground. Registration and information are available online at oklahomariverevents.org. Cost for the run is $25 per person and includes a free T-shirt.
Afterward, participants are invited to the free Bart and Nadia Sports and Health Festival where kids can participate in RIVERSPORT JUMP UP activities and everyone is invited to watch indoor kayaking and rowing races, participate in free health screenings provided by INTEGRIS Health and Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and watch Paralympic volleyball, archery and power lifting.
