McGuiness senior signs letter of intent to play soccer for Colorado school

McGuinness Catholic High School senior Ethan Berney has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO.

Ethan is a three year member of the National Honor Society with a GPA of 4.42 weighted and 3.86 unweighted. He has taken numerous Honors classes including AP English, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP World H Ethan is also a member of the National Society of Distinguished High School Scholars.

A member of Latin Club since his freshman year, Ethan is also a four year member of the Ultimate Frisbee Club. As a sophomore, Ethan was appointed by Principal David Morton as a Student Ambassador, representing Bishop McGuinness and promoting student life to prospective students and campus visitors. Last year, he was selected as a Junior Rotarian. He is a sports letterman of the Boys Soccer team, playing center midfielder. Last year he served as Captain and was named Varsity MVP. He was selected to the Class 4A All District team for the past three years and was named All City Honorable Mention the past two years. Ethan has played club soccer for the past seven years under Coach Brian Harvey. As a senior, Ethan was a member of the Varsity football team conducting the kicking duties.

Accumulating over 90 community service hours, Ethan was involved in the senior service project titled, “Outreach: Students Share – Kids Shine.” The project focused on students sharing any talents or creativity they the community. Ethan is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Hobbies and interests include snow skiing and playing
the guitar. While in college, Ethan plans on majoring in Chemical Engineering.
