Oklahoma Liquefied Gas, Oklahoma’s has launched a program to provide direct financial assistance that will help uninsured and under-insured Oklahomans obtain breast cancer screening, officials said.
Since December, for every gallon of fuel delivered by the special, pink ribbon truck the company created, Oklahoma Liquefied Gas began donating one cent to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Those donations support the Key to Life Breast Cancer Assistance Program, which provides women and men in need with mammograms, biopsies and support services for the detection and treatment of breast cancer.
“The propane industry provides the American Breast Cancer Foundation with tremendous support through the Fuel for Hope campaign,” said Phyllis Wolf, president of the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
The family-owned propane company, started in 1937, serves 12,000 residential and commercial customers throughout the state.
“The reality of breast cancer has impacted many of our friends and families, said propane gas company president, Kenneth R. Green. “These trucks draw attention to a very serious disease that if detected early, is very survivable.”
ABCF’s Key to Life Breast Cancer Assistance Program provides direct assistance in the form of financial grants for annual mammogram screenings and breast cancer diagnostic tests to find or rule out breast cancer. Each year, approximately 8,000 women and men nationwide receive services through the Key to Life Breast Cancer Assistance Program. Breast cancer patients may also be eligible for support items such as wigs, prosthesis and medications.
